Oxford Film Festival starts Thursday
Hot on the heels of Sundance, it’s the 7th Annual Oxford Film Festival, held in Oxford, Mississippi.
I’ll be in attendance Thursday through Saturday and participating on a panel on Friday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. at the Malco Studio theater. If you’re in driving distance of Oxford I encourage you to check it out. Two of my favorite films on the festival circuit, Stingray Sam and Happy Ending, are playing there.
Also check out the series of “Take 5″ interviews that the festival has been publishing with its filmmakers.

Film Festival Secrets: A Handbook for Independent Filmmakers
Chris:
Not a filmaker but a film fan…need advice. I have time for one of the two weekends at Tribeca and live upstate in New York. Is the last weekend much more interesting than the first weekend?
Hi Steve, Festivals that span two weekends generally try to program screenings such that the film gets a screening during each half of the fest. As a film fan it’s probably in your best interest to go during the 2nd half when films will be easier to get into. Keep in mind, however, that filmmakers and special guests may well have departed by that point so you might not get to see Q&As as often. Hope that helps. – Chris
